Description: Uproar is a small quasi-Marxist radical direct action group in Dallas.  It typically supplies logistical and organizing support, but does not appear to take part in strategic direction of the anti-capitalist movement.

Uproar was incorporated in Texas on August 9, 2001 by:

  • Erin Howley, registered agent of Uproar. She was fired from ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now) for trying to unionize its employees. She explained her dismissal in an essay invoking Karl Marx and displayed technical proficiency in Marxist analysis.
  • Mike Moren, a Dallas system administrator at Carnegie Software Solutions, and Green Party candidate; participated in the Quebec City Summit of the Americas riots April, 2001; was active in organizing affinity groups for the Washington DC protests April 20, 2002.
  • Cesar Maxit, activist, trainer in basic climbing.

Uproar's website states: We work or have worked with the following local, national, and international organizations on varied issues and campaigns dealing with the environment, human rights, social injustice, corporate domination, animal rights, prison issues and media:
