turkey, geese, ducks and eggs .
Davis wrote in the December 2000 Vegan Voice newsletter: "If it were up to
me, there would be no ‘domestic’ animals, by which I mean there would be no
slavery, no animal property, no ‘pets.’ Other creatures would live their
lives, raising their families, having their own projects."
Harms: UPC protests eating turkey at Thanksgiving
time and demonstrates against the White House Lawn Easter Egg Roll.
UPC occasionally forces the closure of farmers’-market chicken stands for
alleged mistreatment of poultry.

Helen Voorhees Brach was the Brach's Candy
heiress, a colorful and tragic figure. She loved animals. She left a pile of
money to her foundation, which gives money to all sorts of non-profits. It gets
its money from investments, a diversified managed portfolio of government
obligations, corporate common stocks and corporate bonds.
The Brach Foundation owns stocks in lots of meat using companies:
$448,000 in shares of Campbell Soup Company
$623,000 in shares of McDonalds Corporation common stock
$854,00 in shares of Pepsico, owner of Kentucky Fried Chicken
$841,000 in shares of Safeway Inc.
and much more. Will UPC give back the $20,000 because it's tainted with blood?
Hmm, maybe not.
Oh, well, Brach Foundation also owns a lot of Harley Davidson stock. No doubt
their fine motorcycles are the preferred vehicle of the tofu and tahini crowd.
