Self-Description: Founded in 1961, sharing the 1985 Nobel Peace Prize as an affiliate of International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War, Physicians for Social Responsibility is devoted to creating a world free of nuclear weapons, global environmental pollution and gun violence.
Physicians for Social Responsibility is committed to the elimination of nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction, the achievement of a sustainable environment and the reduction of violence and its causes. PSR combines the credibility of physicians and other health professionals with an active and concerned citizenry and engages the public in important policy debates linking abstract national polices to important health concerns of the average citizen. PSR accomplishes its mission through a dedicated Board of Directors, expert staff, nearly forty chapters around the country, medical student leaders on over sixty campuses, and more than 30,000 members and e-activists.

Actual: An advocacy group that reframes environmental, gun rights, nuclear power, and other issues as public health issues to forward the left-wing ideological agendas of elite donors and well-heeled board members.
