WASHINGTON
A hearing on the funding of environmental initiatives and their impacts on local
communities was held by the House Resources Committee on Tuesday, February 15, 2000 at 2
pm in Room 1334 of the Longworth House Office Building.
The Subcommittee on Forests and Forest
Health chaired by Rep. Helen Chenoweth-Hage (R-ID) heard four witnesses report the
influence of foundation funding on their communities.
Requests of the witnesses for an
investigation into undue influence are being heard.
An investigation into foundation and environmental group undue influence involving the
Clinton "roadless area" directive is now under way, according to
congressional sources. No further information was available, and is not likely to be until
the investigation's report is released.
