Description: "Peace and security"-style foundation based on the fortune of Boston investment counselor, G. Sterling Grumman, who died in a mountain-climbing accident in his seventies. First president, Grumman sister Helen Burr Grumman. Named for Carol and Ethel Grumman, aunts of G. Sterling Grumman.
G. Sterling Grumman was also an early board member of the loudly anti-U.S.-policy Center for Defense Information.

Under leadership of current president Ethel Ackley, another Grumman sister, CarEth Foundation has funded anti-biotech and anti-globalization organizations. A founder member on the steering committee of the Funders Network on Trade and Globalization, but no longer associated, according to CarEth officials.
